Weekend Recap: Exploring South of Broad with a Visitor!

The past two days have been a whirlwind over here folks, I traveled to DC for a quick work trip and now that I'm finally home, I have the worst cold! Would love any and all cold remedy suggestions you may have in the comments.

And while it's technically a little late for a weekend recap and I'm usually privy to a Welcome Home Wednesday post on these days, I decided to break my own rules and do a weekend recap anyway because it was too fun not to share!

Ryan had his annual "man weekend" and my high school friend Nicole came up from Atlanta to visit. She is one of the world's most interesting people, seriously, and Sully and I enjoyed spending the weekend with this world explorer and California hippie ;).
It was so nice to have Friday off and I spent the majority of it deep cleaning our house. When I can get up the energy to do it, it's always SO therapeutic. I didn't realize how bad I needed quiet time to myself just being productive. When Nicole arrived, we picked up Sully, played and had such a fun first night catching up on almost ten years of life!
Saturday we ventured out and got lost in downtown Charleston. We started at Jeni's for some yummy ice cream, the dark chocolate peppermint is AMAZE. Most of our time was spent South of Broad where I snapped these dreamy photos. There are so many gorgeous sights, I couldn't stop...
Cardigan (similar); Lush  t-shirt (under $25, THE best, I have them in every color); Jeans; Adidas kicks; Necklace (my go-to for years); Sunnies
Then we had a girls night and my friend Cambron joined us. It was so much fun. Too much in fact, we lost track of time and didn't go to bed until after 3am!
One of my favorite topics was all the fun products from Beautycounter Nicole brought which I'll fill you in more on tomorrow. I'm hooked y'all, I am so drinking the coolaid (especially for kiddos!).
Then Sunday was full on recover mode! It was bad y'all, Mama can't hang like she used to. It sure was hard getting up Monday and heading to the airport to jump on a flight.

Charlestonians and those familiar, where do you like taking visitors? My Nana and Aunt come into town this weekend so looking for more suggestions!

Five on Friday: Thank you Veterans!

Phew, what a week you guys! Happy Friday!

I'm excited because I have a friend from high school coming into town this weekend from Atlanta who I haven't seen in like 10 years y'all and with Ry at his annual "man weekend" (yes, that's a thing), it's just us girls! I see lots of rosé being poured over gab sessions on the couch and it's exactly what I need! Oh, and she's bringing her full line of Beautycounter, so I'm super excited to learn more and try it out. Especially now that there's a kids line!

Let's jump right in to a little five on Friday this fine day...

{ONE}
Veteran's Day. Thank you to all of those who have served our country and keep us safe! I am so very, very thankful for all of the sacrifices our veteran's and their families have made. God Bless America and it's veteran's!
{TWO}
Weekday sunsets on Sullivan's Island.
Ryan and I often talk about how we never really appreciated South Carolina until we moved away. And one thing that is very important to us now that we're back is to not get comfortable and enjoy the beauty all around us. So on Monday we headed to Sullivan's Island (only 5 minutes away!) super last minute and watched the sun set with our girl. I have to say, it was pretty magical.

{THREE}
You probably spotted them in my Thanksgiving post here, but I just received my first one and I am so impressed y'all! For the cost (under $150!), this is a fully lined slipcovered chair and just can't be beat. I love that I can wash it and that it will be easy to monogram ;).

As a note, the blush color was a bit more muted than it looks in the photo. I'm trying to make it work in our house, but still am on the fence if I should get it in another color

In other home decor news, my favorite hand towels are on sale at Serena & Lily (also where I got my amaze barstools). I'm tempted to try the bath towel too while they're also on sale. These are no joke y'all, they're beautiful and so absorbent. They're almost a turkish towel in the front then backed with a terrycloth fabric.
{FOUR}
This Free People plaid shirt. You may have seen Sully and I dancing in the streets of Charleston on Instagram where I was wearing this comfy and oh so perfect for fall shirt! I also linked it up for my weekend recap, but just had to bring it back today because I love it so much!
SunniesShirtJeans, Flats (sold out, dying for these in the same color!), Julie Vos BangleBourbon and Bowties Bangles

Click here to get one of your own, also wishing I had seen this pink color before I purchased the red... may have to snag it too :).

{FIVE}
Blink by Frankie. Finally, I'll leave you with the song that I just can't stop listening to recently!

Also on my repeats, Champagne Problems by Meghan Trainor (not the Nick Jonas version), Vice by Miranda Lambert and as always, the whole soundtrack of Frozen for Sully :).

Have a great weekend friends! Linking up with these awesome ladies today: A. Liz AdventuresCarolina CharmHello! Happiness and The Good Life.

Welcome Home Wednesday: Thanksgiving Tablescape!

It's Welcome Home Wednesday time! I'm busy prepping for (one of my goals) hosting Thanksgiving with Ryan's family in our new home. So for today's WHW, I thought I would share some inspiration and decorations with you today.

I have lots of leftover Halloween pumpkins, so I definitely plan on using those. I also already have some striped taper candles and gold accents, so I went with that look when pulling inspiration from Pinterest. Here it goes...

After all that inspiration, I was able to dream up the look I wanted to go for, raided my closest and purchased a few new things. Here's a version of what you can expect to see on our table this Thanksgiving...
1 ($5 bargain y'all!) // 2 (on sale under $20) // 3 // 4 // 5
 6 // 7 // 8 // 9 // 10 (on sale!) // 11 (only $400!)

I can't wait to show you an after because there's one thing in this photo that may not seem to make sense now, but will make everything else completely pop when it's all done! Shop the products below and make sure to pin the above image for after, I really think this look could transpire to any holiday season.

Up next is menu planning, let me know if you have any suggestions on good sides or even full menus from other bloggers/websites!

Weekend Update: Family Fun in Charleston!

Happy Monday you guys, hope you had a great weekend! I definitely have a case of the Mondays today, not even gunna lie. But reminiscing about this past weekend is helping get me through. We had such a great time with our very first guests in our new home, my family!
Nick's Patagonia Pullover (on sale!), Shorts; My Sunnies, Top, Jeans (my absolute favs!)

So how about a little weekend recap?

My Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister and their dog Augie all arrived on Friday night to a kitchen full of yummy cookin' thanks to my wonderful chef of a husband!
Saturday came early when I heard Sully make that first little murmur of waking up and Nonna swooped right in ready to see her grandbaby. Lucky girl because Mama and Dada would have let her fall back asleep for another hour ;).
Ryan was at it again with the most amazing quiche lorraine for breakfast! Then the boys got to work making a run to the dump with all our leftover boxes and putting together our adirondack chairs and fire pit (can't wait to try that baby out with friends!).
While the boys drank beer and played with powertools put together the outdoor fun, us girls went to Celadon's 22nd birthday where I found a gorgeous rug and my #1 item on my Christmas wish list, the Lulie Wallace painting below!
We also took the parents to our favorite local place, Geechie Seafood, to pick up some shrimp!
Then it was game time (GO TIGERS!) with family until Sully went to bed and Nick and Ally stayed home to babysit so we could celebrate a family friend's birthday downtown at Magnolias.
Sunday it was church and some hang out time before my family headed back to the Upstate. Ry and I decided that the weather was too nice this weekend to be inside, so we went on a long family date downtown. It was pure bliss and so much fun with our curious little girl!
Sully's Sweater Dress, Tights, Shoes (on sale!), Bow; My Sunnies, Shirt, Jeans, Flats (sold out, dying for these in the same color!), Julie Vos Bangle, Bourbon and Bowties Bangles
It was such a fun weekend you guys!

I gotta say though, the time change really threw all of us off, whoever thought changing time was a good idea definitely didn't have a baby or a toddler!

Speaking of having a toddler, I love this article I read today on 10 Things Every New Toddler Mama Should Know. It was insane how much I resonated with and learned from this short read!

Cheers to a fresh week y'all!
