We've been quite the little travelers lately y'all! This month we've had or have trips to Boston, Cape Cod, the Eastern Shore of VA, Charleston and Garden City, SC all planned, phew!
Two weekends ago we headed up to Cape Cod to celebrate the marriage of two of our closest RVA friends, Paul and Jess. We also got in some quality time with one of my besties in Boston too (more to come on those adventures).
I got the total New England experience all in one sunny Saturday as we drove the shores and little towns of the Cape, ate meltaways, oysters, "lobstah" and cannolis and ended the night fist pumping to upbeat music next to new friends who love gel in their hair and breeze over their "r's" when they speak. It was perfection.
Our journey began when we left Boston early making our first stop on the Cape at Bonatt's Bakery in Harwich Port for meltaways! This famous local pastry was like a denser croissant with a sweet glaze on the top, it was delish.
After refueling on sweets and iced coffee, we continued our drive through some of the quaint small towns in the Cape, stopping the longest to walk, shop and eat in Chatham which was my favorite.
We grabbed a local brew and clam "chowdah" at the Chatham Squire when we needed a break from the sun and shopping. We were so excited to find a South Carolina license plate and even more excited with it was a Clemson one too, Go Tigers!
On our way out of town, we continued the sightseeing. Ry and I now have it on our bucket list to stay at the Chatham Bars Inn one day, it was so beautiful!
The Cape Cod National Sea Shore was breathtaking too, no pictures could ever do it justice. It was so hard to get back in the car and continue on after this stop!
Next up was Orleans for the wedding! We just couldn't get over what a gorgeous day it was, not a cloud in the sky and temps in the high 80s was making for a gorgeous drive.
When we got to Orleans we scurried to get ready and hopped on the bus to the wedding. One of my besties and past roomies, Sam, is from Boston and became friends with Paul and Jess at the Carolina Cup this year, so we were super excited when she was invited to the wedding too!
The venue was at the beautiful Winslow Estate (which also happened to be owned by Sam's neighbors from home!). This place blew me away you guys... the house, the view, everything was perfection!
I decided to don this strapless neon peplum Lilly dress that I got on sale last summer at the beach along with my favorite Baublebar Crystal Firecracker Bib necklace and Hampton High Wedge Jacks in Platinum. Ryan also looked very suave in his Southern Proper Bourbon & Cigars Beau tie.
When I first met Jess, it was via notes back and forth between our apartments which were a floor apart. She wrote back to me one day on Lilly paper and I knew from then on we were destined to be friends! I was so excited to see all her (and Paul's!) hard work and great style shine through in this wedding, get ready to swoon...
The natural flowers and stripes were beyond amazing, it truly was one of the prettiest weddings I've ever been to!
Jess looked beautiful in her gown, we were just so honored to be a part of their special day!
After we settled in with drinks and apps, we couldn't help ourselves considering the wonderful view - mini photo sesh time!
It was so fun to see our RVA friends, Mike and Anna, at the wedding too. The boys decided to make fun of our poses in the second photo down, enjoy :).
Oh and the food, how could I not gush over the food! We got in line and were served via tin tray a whole lobster, a net bag with corn, potatoes, sausage, clams and muscles and then lots of butter and fixin's! I felt so New England!
We were also excited to see treats from our favorite cupcakery, Georgetown Cupcakes, originally from the nearby DC!
After we ate, the dancing began, the sun started to set and we finished out the night in true New England style!
It couldn't have been a more perfect day! It was one of those days that really makes you realize how blessed you are y'all!
I stole a slow dance with my own prince charming of 3 years, boggied down Bridesmaids style to Wilson Phillips with one of my own bridesmaids and best friends, got to see two wonderful friends join each other in the life-long bond of marriage and clinked glasses over it all with new friends too. This is what livin' is about!
