Sister Sister Lovin in LulaRoe

The Maxi Skirt that Ally is wearing is only $35 or three for $100! I'm wearing the Amelia Dress ($52) which will be perfect for date nights and when I go back to work. These pieces are super stretchy and comfortable, most styles come in XS-3XL. 

I might be ordering this dress in multiple colors, it's so cute and comfy. Postpartum mamas, go order this dress now, it's perfectly stretchy and flowy in just the right places (if you know what I mean). Oh and not pictured are hidden pockets! I love it paired with my Michael Kors wedges and Stella and Dot Sanibel Reversible Pendant. 

Now let's talk about the Maxi Skirt that Ally's wearing! We paired it with a plain white T, platinum Jacks and the Kendra Scott Rayne necklace in Abalone Shell (certain colors on sale during the Nordy's Anniversary Sale here). 

I love the strawberry and floral white and blue pattern. I'm currently decorating my living room in blues and whites, looks like my favor for this color combo is spilling over into my style loves too. As soon as I got this skirt, I knew I also wanted to see this as a dress and it totally worked! By the way, this fits me too. Hence the super stretchy and awesome material.

My favorite items from my LulaRoe haul though are the Irma Top (only $26!) and the Leggings (only $20, or 2 for $36!). Y'all, these leggings are heaven! I don't know where they found this material, but it rocks. It's super soft and stretchy. If I was really tall, I would buy these in every color and have them on repeat. Even for shorties like me though, these are great and were the perfect in-flight outfit. 

Last week we were on vacation in St. Pete, Florida and managed to snap a few pics in the brief sun we managed to get. Yes, it was pouring, I mean huge storms with winds and buckets of rain. We may not have gotten much sun, but we for sure got good quality family time :).

My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Purchases

Okay, yes, I know, you're totally over hearing bloggers talk about the #NSale. I can't help it though, I just can't help it. I'm giving in to the hype. Here are my Nordy purchases from this year's sale...

I scouted out the sale via other blogs and by getting a sneak peek while cardholders were able to purchase. My strategy was to really stock up on postpartum needs for work. Things change a lot post-baby (like your shoe size, who knew?!), so I was excited to pick up some items for when I go back to the daily grind in August. Here's what I snatched up with the thought that I'll probably return a lot because I'm still figuring out best fits. 

Let's start with pants. Right now, definitely not my favorite item of clothing :), but nonetheless a necessity. 

I'm really excited about these leggings by SPANX (only $64.90). Leggings are a fall and winter must and these contain a control top, hello cold weather staple! They also have contoured lines and seem really thick which will be great for work. I love the fine wine color, but bought black for versatility.

Flared black pants are a work must have, and I really like the look of these Vince Camuto ones, especially at $58.90. Who's a fan of this brand? I honestly think I own one thing, but this time around ended up buying a couple items.

I haven't had a flared pair of jeans since college and think they're super flattering, so these were high on my list. I really wanted to splurge a bit on the J Brand jeans that are part of the sale at $149.90, but opted for these KUT from the Kloth flares at $62.90 instead so I could fit another item in my budget.

As for skinnies, I kept it on the cheaper side here too and bought these Two by Vince Camuto stretchy skinny jeans at $45.90. 

Now on to tops and dresses...

I knew I had to have this LUSH tunic when I saw it on a few other blogs, especially since it was only $27.90. I can't wait to pair it with the SPANX leggings above!

Comfy blazer, check! This Calson knit blazer comes in eight different colors and is great at only $39.90.

This knit Topshop stripe dress ($42.90) is another blogger favorite. I love the relaxed fit and am hoping my Frye boots still fit so I can pair this with them!

Just like the LUSH tunic, I'm loving this relaxed style dress and decided to snatch it up too at $31.90. 

Shoes, Accessories and More...

These boots by Joie were my big purchase and I couldn't be more excited! For the past few years I've been needing a good pair of booties. When I flipped through the Anniversary Sale catalog, I kept loving these whenever they were pictured, so I scooped them up! Don't get me wrong, I was eyeing these Tory boots for a long time and may have hinted that they would make a great bday or xmas gift to the hubby ;).

I had my heart set on the Kate Spade glitter studs that everyone loves during this sale, but then realized I probably wouldn't actually wear them that much. I think I'll get a lot more wear out of these Kendra Scott Stone Drop Earrings at $33.90.

The Rayne necklace by Kendra Scott is also on sale and I wear mine all the time! Another jewelry item on sale is the Bourbon and Bowtie bangle sets which I think I'm going to regret not adding to my list.

Last, but certainly not least, I was excited that this year I shopped early enough to get my hands on the Voluspa set of two-wick candles for only $29.50.

Remembering Riggs - Bereaved Parents Month

Hi friends, today I’m writing to you on a much different subject than what I normally share. Today I’m writing to raise awareness, spread a powerful story and hopefully motivate you to reach out to a group of survivors we so easily forget.

July is Bereaved Parents Month which not many people, including myself, were even aware existed. I feel like losing a child is not something people talk about. It’s not a pleasant topic of conversation, but it’s something that I feel people should open the door to more often. Whether someone lost a child from a miscarriage, lost a toddler to cancer, their 20 year old to war, or lost their 45 year old in a car accident, these parents need an opportunity to carry on the memory of their children.

That’s why, this July, I want to share the story of a friend, Caroline, and her little boy Walker "Riggs" Farmer. Just this May, Riggs made his way to his forever home at the sweet age of 12 and a half months. It is unknown why Riggs passed in his sleep at such a tender age, but what we do know is his impact has spread far and wide. Just look at the over 5600 followers on his Facebook page!

I met Caroline while we were both students at Clemson University. Caroline instilled her love for Clemson, and the color orange, early with her sweet Riggs. She also shared her love for Disney and love for animals with Riggs as well.

Like Sully, Riggs has two puppy siblings named Moose and Rue who are rescue pups, the best kind! Riggs even celebrated his first birthday at the Orangeburg SPCA. That’s why Caroline and family are raising money to build a doggie playground in Riggs’s name at the Orangeburg SPCA.

Yet this is bigger than just supporting an amazing non-profit, this month is about recognizing these parents as “survivors”. It is hard for anyone to reach out or talk to a parent about their child who has passed, but this could never be as hard as what those parents go through every day without their child.

Caroline has such a beautiful way with words and expressing her feelings about her son on the Facebook page and for that reason, I want to share her words on this month:

“No one knows what to say or how to act to bereaved parents, but we are survivors. We are survivors because a parent’s worst nightmare is our reality. We deserve a month where our choice for survival deserves celebration, a month where we can share the life and spirit of our children who are no longer with us. There is not a lot of support out there for bereaved parents. It is a hard topic to address and no one knows how to approach it. There is no “trial drug” to raise money for that will make this easier for us. We choose survival despite our unimaginable pain, and I believe this month should be celebrated.”

Let’s keep the love and story of this sweet boy and this important month moving! If you know of anyone in any news outlet or platform that could spread the awareness of Bereaved Parents Month even wider, please share.
