Anyone else a Southern Charm fan? I tried to fight it, I really did, but I just can’t help but be addicted to this show, call me #basic, I admit it. Does anyone else get the theme song stuck in their head all the time too (“He’s got money, he’s in magazines…”)?

Well, if you watched last week’s episode you saw Cameran and Landon in their aprons making candles in the most beautiful little spot called Candlefish. While I was in Charleston for the Southern C Summit (day one, two, three + Zero George), I ventured there with a group of bloggers and small business owners for a candlemaking class. It was fantastic and I’m excited to share it with you today!

Leading up to our class at Candlefish, Allie and I had a great time wandering the streets of downtown Charleston, grabbing a drink on the rooftop at The Restoration and some great shopping (more on this later!).

We had a little time before things got started, so I took the opportunity to use the 15% off you get from taking a class to do some shopping. My favorites were the Charleston Rice Beads from Candyshop Vintage, the quirky cards and of course the dozens of candles.

Knowing the story behind how a business came to life is one of my favorite things and Candlefish’s roots are pretty cool. The owners of Candlefish got their start with Rewined Candles which I’m sure you’ve seen, they’re poured in old wine bottles. One of the owners worked at Triangle in Charleston - which I frequented a lot when I lived there because of the bottomless mimosas ;). They saw all the bottles going to waste and knew they had to find a use for them. First they tried cups and the glass was just too sharp, then they landed on using them for candles which they then infused with wine-inspired scents. Pretty neat right?

Now they’ve opened Candlefish where they not only have the shop you see above, but also a little workshop in the back for classes. It was fun to come together to be a "chandler" (candle maker) for a day. Even better, while we decided on our scents, a really cool process in and of itself, we noshed on Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit (my fav!) and sipped rosé.

After a blind smell test, I landed on #28 which is made of three notes: Ginger, Lemongrass and Coconut Milk. Jordan (who you may have seen on that episode of Southern Charm) did a great job of leading us through everything!

We measured our wax, melted it, added in our scent and then made our labels while we waited for it to set. It was really neat to see what each person chose and how different scents could make the candles turn out.

I am already itching for a trip back to this beautiful shop and couldn’t help but think of all the ways this class could be fun if we had one near us… bridal showers, bachelorette parties, Mother’s day, birthdays, it would be endless!
